Learning and interacting with...
Community Members
Each year, our volunteers in Peru take part in a local service project designed to support and uplift the community. These efforts have included building shelters, participating in neighborhood beautification, and engaging in other projects that change annually based on local needs.
Each project not only provides meaningful, hands-on work but also strengthens bonds and fosters genuine cross-cultural understanding. It remains one of the most impactful and rewarding components of our program.

Learning and interacting with...
School Children
Our YMCA partners with local schools in Peru to support educational enrichment and youth development. Volunteers engage directly with students through English language activities, cultural exchange, and creative learning programs.
These interactions help build confidence, broaden worldviews, and foster meaningful relationships. The experience is mutually impactful, offering both students and volunteers a chance to learn and grow together.

Learning and interacting with...
YMCA Staff & Volunteers
Working with YMCA Peru staff and volunteers is an incredibly welcoming and inspiring experience. Their deep commitment to community service and youth empowerment is evident in everything they do. Collaboration is filled with warmth, mutual respect, and a shared sense of purpose.
Many participants say this is the most meaningful part of the trip, as we build strong partnerships that transcend language and culture, creating lasting impact and lifelong friendships. Many of participants keep in touch after the trip ends.
Valeria Valdivia
Coordinator of International, YMCA Peru
Hi! I’m Valeria, and I’ve been part of YMCA Peru since I was very young. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children and youth, creating spaces for learning, growth, and connection.
Today, I’m responsible for coordinating our international programs, where I help create meaningful experiences that bring people together across cultures and inspire personal and community growth.
Peru is a country full of warmth, adventure, and heart — and I love welcoming new friends who come to discover its spirit through our YMCA programs.
If you’d like to learn more or get involved, I’d be happy to connect with you!

One of my personal favorites is Peru, a country I hold close to my heart due to the beauty of its people and landscapes. It's truly one of the most amazing places in the world, and I’m excited to share its wonders with others through the YMCA’s Global Engagement program!
