The YMCA Mexico trip offers participants the opportunity to engage in meaningful service at YMCAs in the Mexico City area, where children find refuge and support.
Volunteers will assist with maintenance and beautification projects designed to make YMCA facilities feel more like a home. These efforts directly contribute to creating a warm, welcoming environment for children who have faced hardship, helping them feel safe and cared for.

School Children
One of the most meaningful experiences of the YMCA Mexico trip will be two days at YMCA Camp Camohmila. Participants will hear firsthand from staff and volunteers about the challenges facing young people and see how the YMCA is creating hope, opportunity, and belonging.
We’ll share meals, games, crafts, and laughter with campers—building friendships that remind us we are all part of one global YMCA family.

Participants on the YMCA Mexico trip will connect with local staff dedicated to supporting youth at the YMCA in Mexico. Despite the challenges, their compassion leaves a lasting impression.
For many, interacting with the YMCA staff and volunteers is the trip's highlight. Their care creates deep connections, inspiring participants and demonstrating the powerful impact of love and compassion on vulnerable youth.
Zócalo
A visit to the historic Zócalo places participants in the vibrant heart of Mexico City, surrounded by incredible architecture, culture, history, and energy.
Through local experiences, historic landmarks, authentic cuisine, and cultural immersion, participants gain a deeper appreciation for the traditions, resilience, and spirit of the Mexican people. The final dinner of the trip sits high above the square.
Bellas Artes
A visit to the Palacio de Bellas Artes offers participants the opportunity to experience one of Mexico’s most iconic cultural and artistic landmarks, known for its breathtaking architecture, murals, music, and performances.
Through art, history, and cultural storytelling, participants gain a deeper appreciation for Mexico’s creative spirit, national identity, and rich artistic traditions.
Tepoztlán
Escape to the enchanting mountain town of Tepoztlán, one of Mexico’s most captivating Pueblos Mágicos. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and landscapes, Tepoztlán is known for its colorful streets, rich Indigenous heritage, and welcoming community.

Hi! I’m Abraham, and my journey with YMCA Mexico began in 1993 through the becarios program at Camohmila. Since then, the YMCA has given me opportunities to grow, learn, and build relationships across cultures.
Today, I coordinate international relations for YMCA Mexico, developing partnerships, exchanges, staff visits, internships, and collaborative programs with YMCAs around the world.
I’m passionate about connecting people and organizations to create meaningful experiences and lasting impact. I also love welcoming international visitors and sharing the culture, communities, and people of Mexico.

I am a YMCA professional with nearly 30 years of experience, both leading YMCAs and organizing trips around the world, for youth and adults groups.
One of my personal favorites is Mexico, a country I hold close to my heart due to the beauty of its people and landscapes. It's truly one of the most amazing places in the world, and I’m excited to share its wonders with others through the YMCA’s Global Engagement program!
